History of the Coffee Pot

One of the earliest inventions in Europe, the coffee pot was introduced in France around 1685, and became popular throughout the world during the reign of Louis XV. It was nothing more than a glass carafe with a heated metal plate attached, heated by an alcohol lamp underneath. Since this kind of coffee pot is very time-consuming, the American Benjamin Thompson invented the Langford filter coffee pot, which was very popular at that time.
In 1763, the Frenchman tonmatan invented the crushed coffee beans into a facecloth pocket, hanging on the side of the pot, after injecting hot water, so that this bag of coffee and hot water heated for a long time, resulting in a different form of cooking, greatly improving the aroma of coffee.
In 1800, the Archbishop of Paris de Bello invented a pot coffee heater divided into two sections, designed to make the coffee flavor does not overflow, can be said to be the originator of today's drip coffee pot. This type of pot was made by placing ground coffee in a perforated container at the top of the pot, into which hot water was injected, and the water flowed through these small holes in the container to the bottom of the pot. It is characterized by the use of cold water to quench the coffee, slowly drawing out the essence of the coffee drop by drop at a rate of 40 drops per minute. Because of the extremely slow rate, a very finely ground coffee powder should be selected for extraction. The coffee brewed in this way is extremely low in caffeine and tastes exceptionally refreshing.
In 1840, British marine engineer Nabel invented the siphon coffee heater. This kind of heater is based on the boiling water, the air pressure in the container containing ground coffee decreases, so it automatically sucks the boiling water into the coffee and the design of the reason. This is the predecessor of the Belgian Royal Coffee Pot.
